NFL weather for 49ers vs. Patriots is ideal for returning injured players
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers are hoping to get some of their injured stars back for Week 4 against the Patriots, and at least they won't have to worry about the weather.
One of the unfortunate themes the San Francisco 49ers have had to deal with so far this season is injuries, highlighted by All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) not playing a game yet.
Additionally, wide receiver Deebo Samuel (calf) and tight end George Kittle (hamstring) missed the Niners' Week 3 contest, a blown fourth-quarter affair against the Los Angeles Rams that at least allowed fellow wideout Jauan Jennings to have a career game.
Kittle and Samuel returned to practice this week in advance of Sunday's home bout against the 1-2 New England Patriots, albeit in limited fashion. Linebacker Dee Winters (knee) also aims to get back on the field after suffering his injury in Week 3.
Fortunately, for those hoping for ideal conditions when the two teams kick off, there shouldn't be any added X-factors because of inclement weather.
NFL weather for 49ers vs. Patriots should be ideal
Those familiar with Northern California, particularly the Bay Area, know that pleasant summer-like conditions can extend all the way through September and occasionally into October.
That'll be the case for Sunday's contest, hopefully cutting down on increased injury risk that might otherwise be associated with cold, rainy or even snowy (not in the Bay Area) conditions.
The latest forecast for San Francisco hosting the Pats calls for clear skies at kickoff with a temperature of 74 degrees and a slight northwesterly wind of six miles per hour.
It's probably welcomed news for fans in attendance, especially those looking forward to a fun tailgate experience.
