NFL MVP Odds: Brock Purdy skyrockets to odds on favorite for MVP
By Reed Wallach
Is the MVP residing in Santa Clara?
Following another dominant offensive showing from the San Francisco 49ers, Brock Purdy has emerged as the odds-on favorite to win NFL MVP, the first instance this season that there's been one. Purdy, who is tops in the NFL passing touchdown and second in the league in passing yards while also lapping the field in terms of EPA/Play, appears primed to run away with the award.
The quarterback of the league's best offense, Purdy has separated from the field with Lamar Jackson sitting as the second choice to win MVP ahead of the two team's meeting at Levi's Stadium next Monday on Christmas night in what could become a coronation for Purdy to win MVP.
It's worth noting that Purdy made waves in the media following the game when asked about his teammate, running back Christian McCaffrey's MVP case. Purdy said that he believes McCaffrey is the MVP, sending the 49ers RB odds up the board, but still way off the pace from the quarterback.
While there has been an adjustment, it's still apparent that Purdy is receiving a ton of credit for the 49ers' success, even if he thinks his teammate should get the nod. As the dust settles after Week 15, CMC is still +2000 to win MVP, tied for the seventh-longest odds.
