NFL.com dished out its Super Bowl predictions for 2023, and the 49ers were surprisingly left out of the top four teams.

Without overthinking things, where would you power rank the San Francisco 49ers at this very moment?

Certainly they're a top-10 team, especially in terms of Super Bowl chances. And the top five should realistically be in play, too.

And you might be able to pin the Niners in the top three squads, especially when it comes to an entire roster makeup from top to bottom, perhaps trailing only the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, take into account what teams have the best chances of winning the Super Bowl this season. Would your placement of San Franciscso jive with that, too?

Got your spot? Good. Let's see how it compares to NFL.com's recent Super Bowl LVIII predictions.

NFL.com predicts Super Bowl winner for 2023, ranks out 7 teams in order of best odds (49ers aren't in the top 4)

A whole panel of NFL.com analysts and insiders put together their top votes for which team ends up winning the Super Bowl in Las Vegas this upcoming February.

You'll probably guess who they picked at No. 1.

With nine votes, KC is the top favorite to win the Super Bowl behind quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Co., and three of those nine voters actually have Kansas City doing a repeat job over the 49ers after that forgettable Super Bowl game back in February of 2020.

There's even one voter who suggested the Chiefs beat the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, which is something.

At any rate, the Niners aren't No. 2 in the ranking, nor are they even third or fourth.

No, San Francisco is No. 5 in Super Bowl odds with four votes, according to NFL.com, with the Eagles coming in second with seven votes, and the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills tied for third with five votes apiece (there are multiple voters for both Cincy and Buffalo who see the 49ers losing yet another Super Bowl here, too).

Voting for the Niners to win the Super Bowl were Steve Mariucci (49ers over Chiefs), Dan Parr (49ers over New York Jets), Adam Schein (49ers over Bills) and Marc Sessler (49ers over Chiefs).

Sessler's game-winning prediction for San Francisco is pretty epic, too:

"Kyle Shanahan's winding quest to lift the Lombardi crescendos on a February night in Las Vegas, as Brock Purdy tilts Kansas City's defense for three scores and 400-plus yards. The play of the game, though, is San Francisco's 77-yard pick-six of Patrick Mahomes that seals the deal with seconds to go in the final frame."

Where was that in February of 2020?

At any rate, the Jets and Dallas Cowboys round out spot Nos. 6 and 7, respectively. But, as we all know, predictions rarely come true (until they actually do), and we can hope the four who voted for the 49ers are somehow proven correct.
