NFC Championship game: Location, time, date and how to watch 49ers vs. Lions

The Niners have made it a habit of going to the NFC Championship game on a yearly basis.

The Lions? Not so much.

The 49ers will host the Lions in the 2024 NFC Championship for the right to represent the conference in Super Bowl 58 this February.

The programs for the 2024 NFC Championship game can officially be printed, as they'll feature the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers squaring off against the No. 3-seeded Detroit Lions.

The winner of that game will advance to play the victor of the AFC Championship game in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, Nevada.

For the Niners, they've now made it to three consecutive conference championships in a row and have been there four of the last five seasons, too. Detroit, on the other hand, has made it to only one NFC Championship game in its history, and that was back in 1991.

The two teams have played each other 68 times, including twice in the postseason. San Francisco leads the all-time series 39-28-1 while splitting those two playoff games.

Considering the opportunities the 49ers have had as of late to reach a Super Bowl and win it, as well as the Lions' lengthy playoff drought, both teams are desperate to win when they square off against each other.

Of interest will be the quarterback battle. The Niners' own Brock Purdy, who was a top MVP candidate for much of the regular season, will battle it out against the Lions' Jared Goff, who grew up a die-hard San Francisco fan.

There'll be plenty of other storylines, too, in this penultimate game of the season.

Where will the 2024 NFC Championship game be played?

The 49ers will host the conference title game at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

When is the 2024 NFC Championship game?

Kickoff will be on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
