We don't know the 49ers' 2024 regular-season schedule just yet, but one of these five Week 1 matchups would be ideal.

If the San Francisco 49ers had won the Super Bowl last February over the Kansas City Chiefs, the NFL would likely hand head coach Kyle Shanahan's squad an easy home game against an inferior opponent so that the Niners would be able to showcase their Lombardi Trophy while backing it up with a convincing Week 1 win.

Alas, though, San Francisco isn't coming off a Super Bowl victory. Instead, it'll be KC likely enjoying a pleasant home opener in Week 1 against some bad team, likely on Thursday Night Football in front of a national audience.

The 2024 NFL schedule hasn't officially been announced yet, but we already know which teams the 49ers will play this season.

The Niners also typically enjoy playing on the road early in the season, thereby avoiding the hotter weather that'll hit the Bay Area in September, which fans on the eastern concourse of Levi's Stadium don't particularly enjoy.

That said, there are some ideal Week 1 matchups, including some home games, that'll be preferable for San Francisco to kick off its 2024 regular-season schedule.

Particularly these five.

Ideal Week 1 matchup: 49ers vs. Chiefs

While the schedule makers are probably going to give Kansas City a Week 1 home game to celebrate, the inevitable quirks of the schedule could send quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Co. on the road to open up the season.

What better way than a grudge match against the 49ers?

It'd be preferable if it was a primetime game, too, perhaps on Sunday Night Football or Monday Night Football.

Sure, the Chiefs still have the last laugh of beating the Niners twice now in the Super Bowl.

However, San Francisco going up 1-0 on the season over a KC team that'd start 0-1 would be a small consolation prize and one worth watching to open up the 2024 campaign.
