San Francisco 49ers fans know that the "debate" about whether quarterback Brock Purdy is good or not has grown pretty stale.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan agreed with that and declared there should not be a debate about Purdy's skill.

Shanahan said this in an interview with Niners radio announcer Greg Papa on NBC Sports Bay Area ahead of Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. The clip in question can be viewed here, courtesy of Coach Yac on the social media platform X.

In the clip, Papa rattles off some of the impressive statistics from Purdy's young career. The two most impressive are his 19-6 record as a starter through 25 regular-season games and the team's average of 29.7 points per game in the games he has started. He then asked Shanahan about how Purdy has evolved over the course of those 25 games.

Shanahan said that Purdy has been the same guy since the first action he saw in 2022 against the Miami Dolphins when then-starter Jimmy Garoppolo went down with an injury. He came off the bench and won the game despite the Dolphins blitzing like crazy and has not slowed down since.

Shanahan also made a great point that Purdy has already experienced so much in his young career. He has had great success obviously, making deep playoff runs in each of his two seasons as a pro. Yet he has also had to deal with adversity like injuring his elbow in the NFC Championship against the Philadelphia Eagles and having to come back from that. He had a brutal four-interception game against the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas night last season and had to bounce back from that.

Then he lost a Super Bowl despite playing well and has had to try and bounce back from that this season.

He has experienced so many things in just two years in the NFL that typically take an entire career for a quarterback to go through. He also has maturity beyond his years which has definitely helped him weather the whirlwind of ups and down he has been through these past two seasons.

His head coach was spot on when he said that there should not be any debate about Purdy because he has been so consistent as a quarterback. He has succeeded with his weapons, without them, when he's been injured, and when he has been healthy.

The fact that he has experienced so much will only help him and the team as they try to get over the hump and win a Super Bowl this season.
