Speaking from the NFL Combine, 49ers general manager John Lynch touched on a number of key points and topics that warrant discussion.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan isn't at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

But general manager John Lynch and his scouts are.

With prospects preparing for their workouts ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft in two months, Lynch and Co. were able to meet with the media to address a number of notable topics, many of which are the biggest talking points for the Niners right now and with the league's new year just a few weeks away.

Niner Noise breaks down what Lynch said and what it means going forward.

John Lynch announces 49ers front-office promotions to replace Adam Peters

San Francisco lost Lynch's longtime assistant, now-Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters, amid its playoff run.

In his stead, the 49ers are going with a twofold approach, according to Lynch, promoting internal staffers Tariq Ahmad and R.J. Gillen to a joint role of director of player personnel.

Previously, Ahmad worked as the team's director of college scouting, while Gillen was the director of pro personnel.

The Niners have produced a long pipeline of front-office types, such as Peters, who have gone on and received bigger offers elsewhere, including former Commanders general manager Martin Mayhew and Tennessee Titans general manager Ran Carton.

Now, Lynch's hope is that Ahmad and Gillen will fill what's widely seen as a massive void left by Peters.
