4 heroes to salute from 49ers' dominant Week 1 win vs. Jets
By Scott Conrad
1. Kicker Jake Moody
Fresh off of his rookie season, replacing legendary great Robbie Gould, kicker Jake Moody delivered for the Niners. His foot alone outscored the entire Jets offense 20-19.
Moody scored on six field goals and two extra points. The former Michigan Wolverine was perfect from everywhere Monday night, including his 51-yard and 53-yard field goals in the first half.
With great reason, Moody was selected as the first place kicker in the 2023 NFL Draft. He only missed one of his 61 extra-point attempts last year while putting 21 of his 25 field-goal attempts through the uprights (84 percent).
San Francisco would benefit from Moody's stellar evening with a pair of two more field goals in the fourth quarter. Becoming one of the NFL's best place kickers, Moody aided the 49ers to their fourth Week 1 performance of 30 points or more since 2019.
Even in a game where San Francisco's offense mustered to find the end zone just twice, the 49ers showed they can add to any lead with the trusted foot of Moody.
Monday night showed how special he and the 49ers could be this year again.
