4 glaring overreactions to the 49ers' first 4 games of the season

4. Injury bug has bit the 49ers (again)
Well, this one is true. But, this is the case for many other teams, including the Rams who managed to beat San Francisco despite having an arguably worse injury report in Week 3.
Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, the 49ers' first-round draft choice last April, has yet to take the field. The offense isn't hurting for points, though. It has scored 24 or more in three of these four games and 30 points or more twice.
The Niners are averaging just under 26 points a game. Essentially, they are scoring about a field goal less each game compared to a season ago. But, as is the case with injuries hitting the rest of the NFL hard, scoring across the league is also down.
Sure, Deebo Samuel missing Week 3 potentially hurt their chances to hang onto the win. However, the defense is banged up, too.
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw is still out from last year's ACL injury. Safety Talanoa Hufanga has only played in Week 3 thus far, and defensive tackle Javon Hargrave joins a few others on injured reserve with a triceps injury.
Yes, the 49ers are banged up, but reinforcements are on the way. Pearsall, Hufanga, Greenlaw and Christian McCaffrey are among those who are expected back.
The next two games for the 49ers are against the other two teams in their division, the Arizona Cardinals and the first-place Seattle Seahawks. By Week 6, San Francisco could easily lead the NFC West.
Relax.
As long as they win the games they should against teams that don't match up well with them (like the Jets and Patriots), the Niners can still make the playoffs and be a treat. Winning home-field advantage would be nice, again, though.
