4 glaring overreactions to the 49ers' first 4 games of the season

3. 49ers' defense is the side of the ball that's struggling
This also may be a stretch. San Francisco's defense has recorded an interception in three out of the first four games and forced at least one fumble in as many games, too.
The only game the 49ers defense did not tally a takeaway was against the Rams in Week 3. After kicker Jake Moody's 26-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, San Francisco held a 10-point lead against Los Angeles.
The defense is giving up an average of 321 yards of offense a game. In four games thus far, the 49ers have the eighth-best run defense, though, as they give up less than 105 yards a game.
The defense is giving up about 23 points a game. That's a touchdown more than last year.
However, San Francisco's secondary held Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers to just 13 completions and less than 170 yards in Week 1. If it weren't for the Vikings' Sam Darnold's 97-yard score to wide receiver Justin Jefferson in Week 2, his numbers would have looked more like Rodgers' stats.
In all four games, the Niners have given up a touchdown in every third quarter. That is a potential difference-maker for a squad that gave up the fewest points in the NFC a season ago.
Linebacker Fred Warner got in on the action in the win over the Patriots. He took one of quarterback Jacoby Brissett's throws and ran it back for a touchdown early in the second quarter.
