George Kittle injury news is the last thing 49ers fans want to hear

The 49ers are already without Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel for Week 3, and now George Kittle is banged up, too.

Injuries have already been a serious problem for the San Francisco 49ers just two weeks into the regular season.

And it appears as if tight end George Kittle is going to be joining the theme.

Highlighting the long list of setbacks is running back Christian McCaffrey, who missed Week 1 with calf and Achilles injuries before being placed on injured reserve, sidelining him for an additional four weeks.

Then, following the Niners' Week 2 loss at the Minnesota Vikings, wide receiver Deebo Samuel was ruled out for a couple of weeks with a calf injury of his own.

San Francisco visits the winless Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, and the offense will be under pressure to deliver without McCaffrey and Samuel.

However, things could get even tougher if Kittle ends up missing time, too, and that's easily the last thing the Faithful wants to hear so early in the season.

George Kittle added to injury report with hamstring issue

On Thursday, ESPN's Adam Schefter led the charge of multiple news outlets reporting Kittle was absent from practice, citing hamstring tightness as the primary culprit:

There's still plenty of time between the report and Sunday's game, and monitoring Kittle's status throughout the week will be of interest.

It's possible the 49ers are merely being precautionary with the All-Pro, holding him from any risk of increased injury or aggravation.

On Friday, the Niners will make an official designation determining whether or not Kittle will be cleared, listed as questionable or doubtful or ruled out of Week 3 entirely. Fans will assuredly hope skipping Wednesday's session is precautionary and that Kittle doesn't wind up being a gametime decision.

San Francisco squares off against Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 22.
