5 free agents who may follow Brandon Staley to 49ers

No. 3: Edge Kenneth Murray
The Niners have been known to take on reclamation projects, and in recent years, they've helped turn around otherwise scuffling careers for defensive players like Arden Key and Clelin Ferrell.
Perhaps edge Kenneth Murray, the Chargers' first-round pick from the 2020 NFL Draft, could be the next one in line to continue this reputation.
Murray certainly disappointed in LA under Brandon Staley, tallying a mere five sacks and 21 tackles for a loss over his four-year stint there, and it's no surprise the Bolts opted not to pick up his fifth-year option.
The 6-foot-2, 241-pound defender is likely now going to look for a one-year prove-it deal, and San Francisco presents a golden opportunity.
Working with defensive line coach Kris Kocurek, a would-be Murray addition would help bolster pass-rushing depth that is poised to lose free agents like Ferrell, Randy Gregory and Chase Young this offseason.
At only 25 years old, Murray would be a low-risk, potentially high-reward addition on the cheap.
