4 free-agent cornerbacks 49ers need to consider for their roster

49ers free-agent target No. 1: Cameron Dantzler
This isn't the first time Niner Noise has tossed around the idea of landing former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cameron Dantzler.
Then, the former third-round NFL Draft pick would have been a trade target after getting into some hot water with then-Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer. Now, Dantzler is a free agent. And, at 25 years old, he's only hitting what should be the peak of his playing career.
There are red flags, yes, including the fact he's bounced around with the Washington Commanders, Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans since being axed by Minnesota earlier this year, and none of those three teams seemed interested in him beyond just being a camp body.

if he's able to get healthy, though, a locker room like that of the 49ers would potentially be the right setting for him to get situated and make a positive impact.
Best of all, assuming he'd be signed on the cheap, a turnaround could ultimately make Dantzler a strong long-term fit without a hefty financial investment.
At least that'd be the best-case scenario.
