There are still plenty of former 49ers available in NFL free agency.

Former 49ers who are free agents: QB Blaine Gabbert

Blaine Gabbert spent a few forgettable seasons with the 49ers as their quarterback. He struggled as a starter and eventually lost the job to Colin Kaepernick. Now, he has made a habit of winning Super Bowl rings while backing up all-time great quarterbacks.

He won a ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers backing up the greatest quarterback of all time in Tom Brady. Last season, he won a ring backing up the man who may have the best chance to supplant Brady for that title, Patrick Mahomes.

The 49ers have re-signed Brandon Allen and signed Joshua Dobbs, so they are set at quarterback. Perhaps Gabbert will go be the backup for Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson next to try to get another ring sitting on the bench behind a great quarterback.

Former 49ers who are free agents: RB Jerick McKinnon

Yet another former 49er who was on the Chiefs last season, Jerick McKinnon, much like Gabbert, did not do a whole lot to earn his ring.

49ers fans will remember McKinnon for missing two full seasons due to injury after getting a four-year deal prior to the 2018 season. He has spent the last three seasons with the Chiefs where he has won two Super Bowl rings with just over 400 rushing yards in that span.

The 49ers will not sign him, and it seems like perhaps no teams will sign him as he does not provide a ton of value and there are better options in free agency.
