Former 49ers linebacker's social media post may hint at a reunion
Former San Francisco 49ers linebacker and current free agent Azeez Al-Shaair recently made a post on social media that could hint at a potential reunion with the 49ers.
With linebacker being a potential need for the Niners, a reunion makes a lot of sense.

The post in question was made on Al-Shaair's Instagram and can be viewed below, courtesy of the OurSF49ers social media account.
The play Al-Shaair posted was from a 2021 game against the Minnesota Vikings. The linebacker made an interception that he nearly took to the house that helped the team in a 34-26 victory.
The interception was one of two that Al-Shaair had in his career with the red and gold. After being signed as an undrafted free agent, he had a solid few years in San Francisco. He had Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw ahead of him on the depth chart but still provided value as a linebacker for the team.
Last offseason, he signed with the Tennessee Titans and had a phenomenal season. He started every game for the Titans and had the fifth most tackles of any player in the NFL. It was a breakout year for him, and proved he could be a starting linebacker.
Now, due to the injury to Greenlaw, linebacker could be a position of need for the 49ers. We do not know when Greenlaw will be back or how he will look if and when he does return.
It could be a coincidence that Al-Shaair posted an old clip from his days as a 49er on his social media. At the same time, it could be his way of signaling an interest in returning to San Francisco. We know that players of this generation are not afraid to use social media to make clear either their pleasure or displeasure with whatever their current situation is.
Also, in the playoff game against the Green Bay Packers this past postseason, Al-Shaair showed up to support his former team and was even out on the field pregame to take part in a pregame ritual with his former teammates.
That shows that Al-Shaair still has a lot of love for his former teammates, and the post on his social media just adds more fuel to the fire that a reunion with the team could happen in free agency.
