Final 49ers injury report for Week 4 suggests reinforcements are on the way
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers should welcome back some key offensive starters from injury for their Week 4 home bout against the Patriots.
Quarterback Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers proved in Week 3 they can put up numbers and points despite missing three All-Pros on offense.
Despite the heartbreaking road loss to the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday, Purdy and Co. managed to get the Niners out to multiple double-digit leads, only to watch as numerous mistakes, drops and whiffs led LA to a fourth-quarter comeback.
Purdy and wide receiver Jauan Jennings had excellent outings. Understandably, though, the Pro Bowl signal-caller wouldn't mind getting a few of his offensive weapons back from injury in advance of the Week 4 home game against the 1-2 New England Patriots.
According to San Francisco's Friday injury report ahead of the game, it looks as if that'll be the case.
49ers injury report vs. Patriots: George Kittle, Deebo Samuel poised to return
All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) remains on injured reserve, and two of the 49ers' top offensive threats, wide receiver Deebo Samuel (calf) and tight end George Kittle (hamstring), were ruled out last week because of injuries yet weren't placed on IR.
In Samuel's case, at least a two-game absence was suspected, but it appears he'll be able to return after missing just the one game in Southern California.
Kittle was limited in practice all week, while Samuel missed Wednesday's session. However, according to the Niners' final injury report, both players are officially XXXX for Sunday's game.

Hargrave's injury is suspected to be of the season-ending variety, and San Francisco may opt to place him on IR on Saturday before the game.
Meanwhile, general manager John Lynch told KNBR 680 that Robinson's injury, which required him to be carted off the field, "doesn't look good." Following Friday's practice, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters it was a torn ACL.
Shanahan also mentioned Williams and Hufanga had minor injuries during the week's practice.
The 49ers and Patriots square off on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 4:05 p.m. ET from Levi's Stadium.
