Way-too-early 49ers 53-man roster projection for 2024

The first wave of free agency is over and the draft is still a month away, but that doesn't mean we can't take a stab at who will eventually make the 49ers' initial 53-man roster in September.

Not much to say here.

Jake Moody was a little up-and-down last season, but actually had a solid Super Bowl, holding the record for longest field goal in the history of the contest for a little while until the Kansas City Chiefs' Harrison Butker took the title several minutes later.

Moody should hopefully continue to improve on accuracy to go along with his leg strength.

Wishnowsky had the best season of his career, averaging 47.7 yards per punt with a net of 42.7 and keeping half of his 52 kicks inside the twenty with just two touchbacks. He's got three seasons left on the extension he signed back in 2019.

Taybor Pepper continues to do the thing you want in your long-snapper: You don't think about the job he's doing because he is consistently good at it. He's got two more years on his deal.

Overall, this team remains among the most talented in the NFL. The draft can still prove useful to add to depth or bolster spots with question marks, but if the season started today, you'd like the 49ers' chances of contending for another Super Bowl trip.
