Way-too-early 49ers 53-man roster projection for 2024

The first wave of free agency is over and the draft is still a month away, but that doesn't mean we can't take a stab at who will eventually make the 49ers' initial 53-man roster in September.

There is no such thing as a lull in the NFL season, although there tends to be some moments where things are quieter by comparison.

This space between the initial wave of free agency and the NFL Draft is one of those periods.

Still, in the lead up to the draft, there's plenty to talk about regarding the San Francisco 49ers, including looking far into the future and attempting to guess who'll make the initial 53-man roster before the season opener in September.

The easy part is that this team is set in a lot of the most important areas, with plenty of veterans either returning from last year's NFC Championship team or new players brought in via the initial wave of free agency.

So even though the Niners have 10 draft picks heading into April's final weekend, the expectation will be that those players who are drafted will be fighting for a few specific holes or areas where the Niners can upgrade. Where appropriate, I've tried to note where those players could step in, but without actual names and draft slots, that's difficult to actually predict.

But that's why this projection is potentially way too early. It's just too soon to know how the draft will fall or how certain players will perform during training camp or the preseason to say for sure. But that's what makes it a fun exercise.

So without further ado, let's get started with San Francisco's offense.
