Perhaps it's a good thing the NFL opted to flex games for Thursday Night Football, a change that'll continue on a "trial basis" in 2024.

Considering every team had to play at least one Thursday night tilt, thereby getting a primetime game, avoiding those lackluster games between two last-place teams is probably favorable.

That rule only applies between Weeks 13 and 17, so fans won't have any clue about flexing games until weel into the season.

The 2024 regular-season opener between the Super Bowl-champion Kansas City Chiefs and the team they beat in the AFC Championship game, the Baltimore Ravens, should be more than entertaining.

But it's the San Francisco 49ers' Thursday Night Football games this season that'll command attention.

After playing two Thursday night games a year ago, the Niners will play two again, visiting the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6 before hosting the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15.

San Francisco swept the NFC West last season and will look to do so again in 2024, albeit with a slightly bigger degree of difficulty with two short weeks.
