Charvarius Ward told the Up & Adams Show that he doesn't have 'beef' with Sauce Gardner, but he does have a warning for the Jets cornerback.

All-Pro cornerback Charvarius Ward didn't take too kindly to words offered by New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner in the wake of the San Francisco 49ers' overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl last February.

While it's been old news for a while now, the exchange apparently started when Gardner called out the Niners after the Super Bowl, saying the "9ers may look better on paper but the Chiefs always find a way."

That triggered Ward, who responded in a now-deleted tweet (shared by uStadium):

Ward responded by reminding Gardner how New York "never sniffed the playoffs" and to "worry 'bout the sorry a-- Jets."

Months have passed since that brief exchange, but the conversation did come up again when Ward joined Kay Adams on her Up & Adams Show this week.

Turns out, Ward isn't upset with New York's star defensive back. But San Francisco's own corner did issue a warning.

Charvarius Ward on Sauce Gardner: 'I don't got no beef with Sauce'

When asked about the interaction with Gardner, Ward had a simple response.

"I've never met Sauce, I don't know Sauce, I've never talked to him," Ward explained. "... We had just lost the Super Bowl. I get on Twitter, and I see a bunch of people tweeting about our team losing the Super Bowl. In my head, I'm thinking 'You're in the NFL as well, and you didn't make it to the Super Bowl. You didn't even make it to the playoffs.' Why are you talking about our team?"

Emotions understandably run high, and it's hard to fault Ward for responding at a time when he and the rest of his team were upset at what went down in Las Vegas, Nevada, over Super Bowl weekend.

After thinking more about Gardner's comments, Ward was much more conciliatory.

"As I look back on it, I realize he was just giving his opinion," Ward continued. "He didn't say anything bad about the 49ers."

Ward admitted to deleting the tweet. He also stressed a subtle warning to Gardner, which could potentiall take place when the Niners host the Jets in Week 1 this season on Monday Night Football.

"I don't got no beef with Sauce," Ward added. "If I did, I'd just tell Deebo Samuel and [Brandon Aiyuk] to handle that for me."
