While it doesn't carry the same energy as gameday, going to 49ers training camp can actually be pretty entertaining.

For some San Francisco 49ers fans, attending training camp is a great opportunity to watch live practices and to get those rare moments up close and personal with players, many of whom will take time to sign autographs and take pictures they otherwise wouldn't have time for during the regular season.

For other fans, training camp is the necessary tool to check out who has a great shot at making the 53-man roster and who is on the fringes, risers and fallers, position battles... and quarterback competitions.

Not as if we haven't heard enough of that already.

Aside from the pandemic-altered 2020 season, the Niners have long welcomed fans to training camp, and here's how you can check out the 2023 practices.

When is 49ers training camp open to fans this season?

Not officially official just yet, but according to the San Jose Mercury News' Cam Inman, the team issued notices to season-ticket holders advertising nine practices, and those season-ticket holders will have first dibs.

As for the dates, Inman shared the following:

  • Wednesday, July 26
  • Thursday, July 27
  • Sunday, July 30
  • Monday, July 31
  • Tuesday, Aug. 1
  • Thursday, Aug. 3
  • Friday, Aug. 4
  • Saturday, Aug. 5
  • Monday, Aug. 7

All practices start at 10:15 a.m. PT.

How much does it cost to attend 49ers training camp?

Tickets are $10 per person (two years old and under attend for free), and the proceeds go directly to the 49ers Foundation.

Tickets can be purchased on the 49ers' mobile app.

Where is 49ers training camp located?

49ers training camp is located at the SAP Performance Facility in Santa Clara, California, just east of Levi's Stadium.

So, if you've ever been to Levi's Stadium for a Niners game, you've been close to the practice facility.

San Francisco hasn't officially announced its training camp schedule, and there are likely to be some dates closed to the public, too, before the team takes to Las Vegas for two joint-practice sessions with the Las Vegas Raiders on Aug. 10 and 11.
