5 burning questions the 49ers are left with after minicamp

As the traditional dead period until the start of training camp dawns, here are some questions that will keep the 49ers busy in the meantime.

Who are the 49ers cornerbacks going to be?

Our final question relates to yet another busy position on the 49ers roster, and it's the one who lines up opposite the other big position group on the 49ers roster, that of the defensive backs.

From a position of rarely picking up cornerbacks in free agency or the draft, except for the occasional deal like the one which brought Charvarius Ward to Santa Clara, the 49ers loaded up at the position this spring, adding Isaac Yiadom, Chase Lucas and Rock Ya Sin in free agency, while adding Renardo Green in the second round of the NFL Draft.

The question now becomes which of those see the field, and at what position.

Ward and Deommodore Lenoir are almost certain to be two of the starting three, but outside of that, the makeup of who lines up at what position could change depending on who can impress the most in training camp.

Yiadom, for example, impressed at recent OTAs on the outside, and if he can continue that upward trajectory, this could see Lenoir moved to the slot. On the other hand, should Green continue his promising start as a rookie in the nickel spot, he could nail down a starting role in a position that has lacked a permanent solution for the 49ers since the free-agency departure of K'Waun Williams in 2022.

Outside of that, the ability of the likes of Yiadom, Ya Sin and Chase Lucas to impress could be enough to push off reasonably long-serving 49ers like Ambry Thomas or Samuel Womack off the roster.

It'll certainly be a position of intrigue, and the way it eventually shakes out could be a key moment in the 49ers season, especially considering the pass-happy teams that they are likely to face in their pursuit of a sixth Super Bowl win, such as their recent nemesis Kansas City.

What do you think the biggest questions facing the 49ers are going into the rest of the offseason, and how would you answer them?
