Brock Purdy disrespect is spreading across NFL front offices, and it's totally unfair

When will they all wake up?

The dog days of the NFL offseason are almost over, with training camps kicking off this week, but that doesn't mean there's a shortage of "offseason" content.

In a piece done over at ESPN, recently, insider Jeremy Fowler compiled data from just under 80 league executives, coaches and scouts and used votes to put together a list of the league's top 10 quarterbacks.

To no one's surprise, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy did not appear on the list.

Here are the top 10, according to the "experts" who were polled:

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
2. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
3. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
4. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
5. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
6. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
7. C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans
8. Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets
9. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
10. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Purdy was inserted as an "honorable mention," along with Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers, Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins, Kirk Cousins of the Atlanta Falcons and Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

How long until Brock Purdy is recognized as a top quarterback in the NFL?

What Purdy has done, to begin his career, is nothing short of impressive.

We're talking about the guy who led the league in QBR in 2023 and drove his team all the way to the Super Bowl.

Purdy also has more playoff wins (4) than four of the guys listed on the top 10, which include Lamar Jackson (2), Dak Prescott (2), C.J. Stroud (1) and Justin Herbert (0). He's tied with Matt Stafford in this category, and Stafford is entering Year 16.

Speaking of playoffs, Purdy already has six career playoff games under his belt and has thrown six touchdowns to only one interception in those games.

Sure, Purdy has the talent around him on both sides of the ball and enjoys play-calling from the offensive guru, Kyle Shanahan. But, facts are facts. The guy is on a winning football team, but he also makes the plays necessary to win football games. In conjunction, he avoids plays that result in losing games more often than not. Speaking of which, it's worth mentioning that both Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen threw the second and fourth-most interceptions in football last season.

Take that information and do with it what you will.

The fact is, Purdy is a top-10 quarterback in the league right now. In a "What have you done for me lately?" league, Purdy has done darn-near the most.

It's time to give him the respect he deserves.
