The Niners' star signal-caller has defied all expectations, rising to stardom in two short seasons despite the moniker of being "Mr. Irrelevant."

There are plenty of reasons why Purdy fell so far in the draft, and his scouting report from NFL.com even listed him as a priority undrafted free agent, so it wasn't as if he was generating plenty of hype around the league entering April of 2022.

However, going back to his workouts at the NFL Scouting Combine, one could see some positive traits that have ultimately helped him become a household name.

Including his 40-yard dash.

Purdy is certainly not a statue under center, and he used his legs to great effect during the 49ers' come-from-behind victory over the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs in January of 2024.

As for his 40-yard time at the combine leading up to the 2022 draft, he ran it in a respectable 4.84 seconds.

Putting things into context, Baltimore Ravens MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson ran a blazing-fast 4.34 time, while Kansas City Chiefs star signal-caller Patrick Mahomes ran a 4.80 40-yard time.

While Purdy can't touch Jackson's speed, of course, the former is definitely on par with Mahomes.

The fastest 40-yard time for a quarterback was by Michael Vick (4.33 seconds) back in 2001, while Tom Brady's notoriously slow dash was 5.17 seconds back in 2000.
