At some point, 49ers fans may get some good news about Brandon Aiyuk. There may be a day in the near future – or at least eventually – when they wake up and see something slightly positive. That's just not today.

Shortly after ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Aiyuk and the 49ers aren't particularly close to agreeing on a new contract, the wideout poured gas on the flames with, of course, a TikTok. In it, you can clearly see Aiyuk facetiming with Jayden Daniels, telling him that the 49ers 'dont want [him] back.'

Filming a FaceTime that calls out your current employer and then putting it on TikTok is the most 2024 way to deal with a contract dispute possible. Everything's content if you squint hard enough. And if you can believe it, the QTs are almost exclusively fans of others teams that are now extremely confident that Aiyuk will be suiting up for Washington, Pittsburgh, Denver, and Carolina next year.

This is now the 15,000th (approx) straight bad development in the 49ers-Aiyuk offseason standoff. There very well could still be a longterm deal on the horizon – and there'd be something weirdly fitting if the two sides quietly agreed to a huge extension after a summer full of these mini-stories – but right now, things look pretty bleak.

Fortunately the 49ers don't have any other wide receiver contract situations that also need attention. That'd be a disaster. They can just use all of their energy between now and training camp to get a deal done with Aiyuk, and then run back one of the most prolific offenses in the league. Maybe John Lynch will drop his own TikTok explaining that this was all just a big misunderstanding and then in that moment announce a new deal. And actually, that's probably what's going to happen, so you don't need to worry about this, if you even were. Everything's fine.
