The San Francisco 49ers have started slow in the first half of this Monday Night Football matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. They go into the locker room for the half trailing the Vikings 16-7.

They weren't able to take advantage of an interception by cornerback Charvarius Ward on the first drive of the game. Running back Christian McCaffrey fumbled on the ensuing drive and the 49ers fumbled away a chance to score in the first quarter.

One player though has been a steady presence for the team in the first half, wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk. In the first half, he provided the offense a big spark. He has five receptions for 57 yards receiving thus far.

He's also picked up some big first-down conversions for the 49ers throughout the course of the first half.

If the 49ers want to take the lead in the second half, they'll need to lean on Aiyuk to continue converting big first downs and getting big gains down the field.

Obviously quarterback Brock Purdy also needs to keep playing well as he has in the first half. But he'll also need Aiyuk to be his safety blanket, and continue getting open down the field.

In a game where the defense of the 49ers has started slow and already conceded 16 points to the Vikings, they will need their offense to step up in the second half and put up multiple scores.

If the 49ers are to leave Minneapolis with a victory they will need Aiyuk to finish with a stat line of something around nine receptions, 110 receiving yards and one touchdown.
