Jauan Jennings becomes a STARter

Q and A time.

Who is the most reliable threat at the position on the 49ers right now?

They don’t call him "3rd and Jauan" for nothing. Jauan Jennings' role might be minimal, but when he hits the field, his impact is huge.

The 49ers just extended him on a second-round tender.

That’s good enough to keep him around for one more year, but the way things are shaking up, he should get a multiyear deal shortly after the postseason concludes.

In fact, Jennings is one trade away from being the No. 2 receiver on the team, and from the looks of it, he can handle it. In three years, he’s built a pretty impressive resume as a third option.

In third-down situations, he’s caught 39 receptions for 475 yards and two scores.

In 45 games, Jennings has converted an astounding 32 first downs. He is not only the definition of reliability, he has re-wrote the meaning all together. On any other team, he’s a top-two receiver.

It’s just unfortunate that he’s on a roster that boasts the likes of Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. However, it’s worth noting that he does a fantastic job at standing out on a team full of All-Pros.

And that is no easy task.

Jennings' tenure with the 49ers was on a lease to own basis, but now, he’s ready to buy.
