Biggest winners, losers from Nick Bosa's massive extension from 49ers

Nick Bosa probably winds up on the winning side of things.

Loser: Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers

The Chiefs and Panthers are probably thinking about how it would have been smart to get ahead of the market by offering deals to Chris Jones and Brian Burns, respectively, before Nick Bosa had a chance to completely reshape the market.

Even if both Jones and Burns don't come close to reaching Bosa's total value, both players' price tags just shot up significantly.

If only KC and Carolina moved quicker.

They could have, too. According to Over the Cap, Kansas City has a projected $61.36 million in cap space for 2024, while the Panthers are projected to have just over $55 million.

Locking up both players sooner would have been smart. Instead, both teams will either pay up significantly more or risk losing or alienating their defensive cornerstones.
