Winner: Chiefs DT Chris Jones, Panthers edge Brian Burns
Nick Bosa might have been smart to sit back and wait out the market played out for two other notable defensive linemen who are seeking new contracts, the Kansas City Chiefs' Chris Jones and the Carolina Panthers' Brian Burns.
Instead, San Francisco simply elected to exceed Aaron Donald's numbers by a notable margin to get things finalized.
What that means for both Jones and Burns right now is anyone's guess, although this Pro Football Focus reaction on Twitter was pretty good:

According to Fox Sports' Nick Wright, Jones is seeking a two-year extension worth $64 million, which comes close to Bosa's number while also exceeding Donald.
He's much more likely to get it now with Bosa's contract public.
The same with Burns, too, who is not as talented as Bosa but does have youth on his side, unlike Jones. He, too, likely saw his projected annual average go up significantly after the Bosa deal.
Absolutely no excuse for the #Panthers not to get the Brian Burns deal done before Week 1 now. Anything else is just malpractice.

Nick Bosa got $34 million per year. Burns should get in the region of $28-30 million based on that.
That's business.
Both Jones and Burns will get paid, and Bosa's contract just increased what they'll take home.
The only question is when (and possibly from who).
