The Bears seem like a likely landing spot for the son of a 49ers all-time great.

There are a number of relatives of current and former San Francisco 49ers available in this year's NFL Draft.

One such player is Brenden Rice, the son of legendary 49ers' wide receiver Jerry Rice.

While the Niners could get Rice, the Chicago Bears may steal him from his dad's former team.

Will Bears end up drafting Brendan Rice instead of 49ers?

Rice played well in his college career. He played his first two years at the University of Colorado before transferring to USC. At USC, he saw a greater role emerge. In his junior year, he had 611 receiving yards and four touchdown catches. During his senior year, he stepped it up and had 791 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

The 49ers are a team that could potentially draft Rice. Wide receiver is not a huge need as of right now, but it could be depending on how things shake out. As of right now, the team's wide receiver depth chart has an impressive top three of Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and Jauan Jennings.

After that, the team re-signed Chris Conley, Ronnie Bell will be entering his second year, and San Francisco still has speedster Danny Gray.

That seems like a fairly full depth chart, but Gray is a potential candidate to be cut, which could make room for the Niners to draft Rice.

However, the 49ers have more pressing roster needs, so it seems unlikely that they are going to go out of their way to draft a wide receiver. The offensive line and defensive positions like safety and cornerback are other needs going into the draft.

That is why the Bears are a team that could swoop in and draft Rice.

Keep in mind that Rice played the last two seasons at USC with quarterback Caleb Williams, the man many believe the Bears will draft with the first overall pick. As they try to build around this young quarterback, it could make a lot of sense to draft a guy who he is familiar with and had success with in college.

Of course, the Bears are not exactly starved at wide receiver as they already have Keenan Allen and DJ Moore on the team. But they could target Rice as a guy who could be a deep threat for Williams like he was at USC and could learn from Allen and Moore.

While it would be amazing to see Rice suit up for the same team his father played for, there are 31 other teams out there and they do not care about nostalgia.

If the 49ers do not draft the younger Rice, look out for the Bears as a potential fit.
