The 49ers and Cardinals game will welcome a familiar face to the TV broadcast booth for Week 5.

A game between the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals typically wouldn't garner a lot of national attention.

After all, the red birds aren't exactly the Niners' biggest rivals despite playing within the same division, and Arizona doesn't strike many as a team with a large national following.

However, for this Week 5 NFC West showdown, there might just be a little more nationwide interest.

And it'll be up in the broadcast booth.

49ers vs. Cardinals: Tom Brady to add color commentary to Week 5 showdown

Fox Sports will carry Sunday's bout between San Francisco and Arizona, which kicks off on Oct. 6 at 4:05 p.m. ET from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Not too far away, a die-hard 49ers fan grew up watching the team's dynasty years of the 1980s, soon-to-be Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady, who has since transitioned over to the broadcast booth with Fox Sports after his legendary playing career with both the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady will provide color commentary for the Fox TV broadcast, while Kevin Burkhardt will manage play-by-play duties.

Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi will be on the sidelines.

For Brady, entering year one of his broadcasting career, it'll be a chance to return to his hometown Bay Area roots while watching a quarterback who's experienced plenty of similarities from the early part of Brady's own career, the Niners' Brock Purdy.

Purdy, the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, can probably have some conversations with Brady, pick No. 199 overall in the 2000 draft.

Of course, Purdy's first victory as a starter came back in 2022 when he and San Francisco beat Brady's Bucs. In doing so, Purdy became the only signal-caller to beat Brady while making his first-ever start.

Perhaps that'll be discussed when the 49ers take on the Cardinals with Brady at the mic this Sunday.
