The ultimate boom-or-bust of all the tackles in this draft, Amarius Mims has everything needed to be a franchise left tackle in the NFL but has scared teams with his lack of experience, injury history and the deep tackle class providing safer prospects.

As a result, there's a chance Mims could slide all the way down to No. 31.

The positives are readily apparent. Physically he's a monster standing at 6-foot-8 and 340 pounds but still recording a 5.07 40-yard time and second-fastest short shuttle time at 4.33 seconds. His arms are massive at over 36 inches long, he's ridiculously quick, strong and just bullies defenders at every point at the game. If one were to design a prototypical left tackle physically and in terms of skillset, this is the guy.

The negatives are also very apparent. Mims was hurt twice last year and has had only eight collegiate starts. He couldn't finish the NFL Combine, and he has some minor character concerns off the field, which he did well to ease concerns with at the combine interviews but still scared teams just a little bit, given how many poor characters have come from Georgia in recent years.

But this could be something for the 49ers to take advantage of.

They have the best left tackle in the league in Trent Williams, a locker-room leader who would be a perfect mentor for Mims. Mims can start at right tackle right away and slide over to the blindside when Williams retires.

With the ability to trade up given they have more picks than needs to fill on the roster, the 49ers have a big chance here to swing big.

The team is certainly doing its homework, given it's met with the tackle already.
