49ers vs. Chiefs final score prediction for Super Bowl 58

The opening kickoff at Super Bowl 58 is fast approaching and if you've already read my full betting preview for the game, then you know that I'm back the 49ers to win and cover the spread.

In this article, I'm going to take it on step further and attempt to predict the exact final score of the game. Am I going to get this prediction correct? Probably not, but if I do, I should be hailed as a football prophet for years to come.

Let's first look at the latest odds and then I'll give you my exact score prediction.

As I already stated, I like the 49ers to win this game. For the majority of this season, they've been the best team in the NFL and if not No. 1, then they'd be No. 2 behind the now-eliminated Ravens. Few people would have claimed the Chiefs were the better team during the regular season so we should try to avoid having a short memory and think longer term than just the postseason results.

The 49ers lead the NFL in almost every single offensive category including EPA per play and success rate. I have faith they have enough weapons to drown out Patrick Mahomes and company.

But then what about the total? With it set at 47.5, I'm going to take the UNDER. The Chiefs and 49ers had the second and third best scoring defenses in the NFL, allowing a combined 35.2 points per game.

Let's also note the UNDER is 16-4 in Chiefs game this season as they play a controlled offense while leaning on their defense to slow down opposing offenses.

So my final score prediction has to follow the 49ers to cover the 2-point spread but the total also has to stay UNDER 47.5. For that reason, I'm going to make my final score prediction the 49ers winning by a tally of 24-20.
