49ers Super Bowl odds make major move following Week 12's action

After winning their third straight game last week against the Seattle Seahawks on Thanksgiving night, the San Francisco 49ers are surprisingly now the favorites (+400) to win Super Bowl 58, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
The 49ers have the second-best record in the NFC at 8-3 behind the 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles, who have the third-best odds (+450) to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. The Kansas City Chiefs are in the mix with the second-best odds (+425) as they try to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
San Francisco had a rough patch in October, dropping three consecutive games to the Browns, Vikings, and Bengals. The defense struggled a little bit, allowing 24 points per game.
However, the offense’s production took a significant dip as they only scored 18 points per game, which was a difference from the first five games of the season (33.4 points per game). During that stretch, starting quarterback Brock Purdy only completed 62.5% of his passes for 762 yards, three touchdowns, and five interceptions.
He looked more like a seventh-round pick in those three contests than the guy who took the NFL by storm last season. But to the 49ers’ credit, they didn’t panic. Instead, they fixed their issues and acquired standout young defensive end Chase Young at the trade deadline from the Washington Commanders.
Since returning from their bye week in Week 9, the 49ers have looked like the team we saw in the first five games this season, dominating their competition and leaning on their star players such as Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk.
In their last three games, the 49ers have scored 30-plus points twice and held opponents to 10 points per game. San Francisco will have a chance to shorten their odds to win the Super Bowl this weekend against the Eagles. The Eagles defeated the 49ers in the NFC title game last year, so you have to believe that San Francisco wants to get revenge. If Purdy and the 49ers get the job done on the road, they can make the case to be the best team in the NFL.
