The 49ers open up their 2023 regular-season campaign on the road against the Steelers, and we give you all the details of what you need to know.

While preseason football is a bit of a tease, the real games that count ultimately are what fans crave the most.

And, after months of waiting, San Francisco 49ers football returns to the calendar with Week 1's game taking place this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan's squad will look to get off to a strong start this season with second-year quarterback Brock Purdy under center, and the Niners' prospects for winning the game will be made easier in the wake of defensive end Nick Bosa ending his holdout and signing a record-breaking contract extension just days ago.

That said, if Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and edge rusher T.J. Watt have anything to say about it, San Francisco will leave Pittsburgh with a 0-1 record.

Here's what fans will want to know about this enticing Week 1 showdown.
