The 49ers kick off their 2023 regular-season campaign on the road against the Steelers, and we've got everything you need to know right here.

The San Francisco 49ers aren't too fond of the last time they had to travel to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It was back in 2015, during the one-and-done Jim Tomsula year, and the Niners were walloped 43-18 in what turned into an omen for what would be a dreadful two-year stretch of bad football for the red and gold with two different head coaches.

Now, entering 2023, San Francisco is a Super Bowl contender under head coach Kyle Shanahan and will look to avoid some of the slow starts that have historically plagued Shanahan since he took over the franchise in 2017.

Always a playoff contender under head coach Mike Tomlin, the Steelers figure to be a tough Week 1 opponent for the 49ers.

When and where are the 49ers playing the Steelers Week 1?

The Niners and Steelers kick off their Week 1 matchup on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. ET from Acrisure Stadium (formerly Heinz Field) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
