49ers select Florida State CB Renardo Green with No. 64 pick in 2024 NFL Draft
The 49ers decided to trade down a spot and immediately upgrade cornerback with Florida State's Renaldo Green with the No. 64 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The San Francisco 49ers ended up trading down from No. 63, but at least the team didn't make fans wait too long as they merely swapped picks with the Kansas City Chiefs at the very end of the second round.
For what it's worth, the Niners traded No. 63 and No. 211 for No. 64 and No. 173, more assets mean easier trades later on down the line, so they can't be too upset about that.
After the 49ers selected Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall with the No. 31 pick, they went back to the state, selecting cornerback Renardo Green out of Florida State.

A fast-rising prospect in the NFL Draft, the 6-foot-0, 186-pound defensive back fits the mold of a 49ers cornerback. He's a strong tackler and run defender, and he's very explosive with the ability to make some big plays if he gets a run on the football. Green had an interception and 13 passes defended for the Seminoles in 2023.
Green does have some things to work on, however. He can get grabby with receivers, and he'll need to look out for that at the NFL or risk being flagged. Similarly, his aggressive tendencies can sometimes backfire and leave him susceptible to big plays.
An added asset is his versatility, Green can play outside or in the slot, and he's shown potential as a blitzing defensive back with Florida State as well.
If Green can prove himself in training camp and the preseason, this can be an instant impact pick as the No. 2 corner opposite Charvarius Ward, allowing Deommodore Lenoir to move into the slot.
A strong pick for San Francisco.
