Week 5 -- Cowboys @ 49ers: Sunday, Oct. 1

Based on previous outings in the last two years, the Dallas Cowboys should have little chance beating San Francisco at Levi's Stadium in front of a national audience.

After all, the 49ers elimninated Dallas twice in back-to-back postseasons the last two years, and the best predictor of future behavior is always past behavior.

Except it's always tough to win three games in a row over another team that has enough firepower on both sides of the ball to make a legitimate Super Bowl run, and that's precisely what the Cowboys have. Armed with quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb on offense, a revamped Dallas defense with a Defensive Player of the Year candidate in linebacker Micah Parsons could be in the mix for a top unit this season.

There's a reason why the Cowboys and Niners are both viewed as top NFC contenders, and a Sunday Night Football showdown in Week 5 is exactly what fans want to see.

Except San Francisco better be careful with the knowledge that Dallas is eager to avenge the last two postseasons.
