The 49ers' Super Bowl roster will definitely undergo some changes this offseason.

No. 3: 49ers safety Tashaun Gipson

A year ago, veteran safety Tashaun Gipson hinted at retirement but elected to return after the Niners opted not to re-sign fellow defensive back Jimmie Ward, who then departed to the Houston Texans as a free agent.

But Gipson was back on a mere one-year deal. Combined with San Francisco's 2023 NFL Draft selection of Ji'Ayir Brown, it appeared as if the veteran was on borrowed time.

Plus, Gipson will turn 34 years old this summer. That's ancient for a defensive back.

His age was a visible factor down the stretch, and the 49ers would be wiser to go with cheaper options like Brown on a full-time basis.
