Keep tabs on each of the 49ers' roster-related moves as they trim the current crop of 90 players down to 53 ahead of Week 1.

The San Francisco 49ers (and the remaining 31 teams across the league, for that matter) will soon face the arduous task of trimming their 90-man offseason rosters down to the original 53 players who'll grace the field for Week 1 of the regular season.

Of course, that initial 53-man roster is anything but final. Players will continue to be released, waived, signed and placed on injury lists throughout the year, and others wind up being bounced on and off the practice squad, too.

Over the years, roster cuts were done in stages over the course of the preseason. In 2024, however, all roster cuts to get teams to 53 players are to be complete no later than 4 p.m. ET on Aug. 27 once the three-week exhibition phase wraps up.

That'll mean plenty of NFL hopefuls will see their dreams come to a crashing halt in the next few weeks.

Additionally, cuts can take place at any point up to that deadline. Some teams, for example, perform a "favor" by cutting veterans prior to the deadline so they have a jumpstart on efforts to land with another team before the flurry of newly available free agents hits the wire.

As for the San Francisco 49ers, who boast a Super Bowl-caliber roster this year but still have a number of depth questions, the challenges facing head coach Kyle Shanahan and Co. will be provocative.

The Niners have already engineered a number of transactions prior to Aug. 8 (the day this particular list was launched).

But, regarding their 90-man roster, keep checking back and refreshing the page to ensure you've got the latest on each release and waiving San Francisco performs to get down to 53 players.
