49ers roster bubble watch: Linebacker

Lock: Oren Burks, Dre Greenlaw, Fred Warner
Strong bubble: Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, Marcelino McCrary-Ball, Dee Winters
Weak bubble: Jalen Graham*, Curtis Robinson
Long shot: Kyahva Tezino

Dre Greenlaw and All-Pro Fred Warner remain the unquestioned top linebacking duo in the NFL right now.

But, after Azeez Al-Shaair left in free agency, the strong-side (SAM) linebacker role remains open, even if it's not quite as prevalent as both the weak-side (WILL) and middle (SAM) spots.

This might have been a wide-open competition ahead of training camp, but one name that's repeatedly popping up is second-year pro Marcelino McCrary-Ball, who impressed a good deal last preseason and is now poised to do so again.

Even it means the Niners have to make tough choices between a veteran like Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles and one of the two drafted rookies, Dee Winters or Jalen Graham.
