The 49ers and Rams don't exactly have much to play for in Week 18, but the NFC West rivalry will still be on the table.

Week 18 might be the perfect opportunity for the Los Angeles Rams to finally end the elongated regular-season losing streak they've had against the San Francisco 49ers, one that dates back to 2018 when LA last pulled off a non-playoff victory over the Niners.

Namely because the game doesn't particularly matter much to head coach Kyle Shanahan's squad.

San Francisco clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture in Week 17, meaning Shanahan can afford to rest his starters without losing anything, should he so desire.

Meanwhile, the No. 6-seeded Rams can't advance any higher and already have tiebreakers over those teams that could finish with a 9-8 record, meaning LA won't fall down in the playoff seeding either.

So, it's very possible that both Shanahan and Los Angeles' head coach, Sean McVay, rest their starters in what becomes a B-squad matchup to close out the final week of the regular season.

That said, bragging rights matter, and this NFC West showdown won't be any different.

Let's go over what you need to know for the contest.

When and where is the 49ers game vs. Rams being played?

Week 18's game between these two NFC West squads was listed as TBA for much of the year until the NFL finally announced it would be played on Sunday, Jan. 7 at 4:25 p.m. ET

San Francisco is the home team, meaning the game will be at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The 49ers won their previous regular-season matchup over Los Angeles 30-23 back in Week 2 down in Southern California.

49ers vs. Rams betting odds: Spread, moneyline, over/under

Perhaps the oddsmakers at FanDuel are recognizing the likelihood of the Niners resting plenty of their starters on Sunday, as they're listing San Francisco as a mere 3.5-point home favorite. If the game meant more to the 49ers, it'd likely be a much bigger spread.

The Niners' moneyline is -178, while LA's moneyline is +150.

The over/under for the game is 42.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
