The 49ers square off again with their NFC West rivals, the Rams, in a Week 2 contest down in Southern California this Sunday.

The Arizona Cardinals are largely expected to be the bottom-dwellers in the NFC West this season, but many experts and analysts felt the retooling Los Angeles Rams wouldn't be that far ahead of the red birds in the divisional standings.

After all, those years of general manager Les Snead going all-in for a Super Bowl effectively cost LA its long-term future (although a Super Bowl win was achieved, much to the San Francisco 49ers' chagrin).

Yet Los Angeles pulled off a relatively shocking 30-13 win over another NFC West rival, the Seattle Seahawks, up at Lumen Field in Week 1, which wasn't exactly expected.

So, in tandem with the Niners' 30-7 road victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's now San Francisco and the Rams who are tied atop the NFC West with 1-0 records after one week.

Sure, the division won't be settled in Week 2. But it's time one of these two rivals set itself apart from the other when both teams square off this upcoming weekend.
