These 49ers did nothing to help their stock value in preseason game vs. Raiders

Some 49ers players on the fringes of the roster didn't aid their chances in the preseason loss to the Raiders.

49ers quarterback Trey Lance

On paper, Lance looked good. He went 10-of-15 for 112 yards, a touchdown, no interceptions and a passer rating of 111.0.

On film, Lance looked indecisive, a tad slow and responsible for at least two of the four sacks he took. Plus, that touchdown was one of only two passes the Raiders should have picked off. Instead of coming out and looking like a budding talent who'd challenge Brock Purdy for San Francisco's starting job this season, Lance fluttered.

And he's drawing all kinds of criticism as a result.

The 49ers won't waive Lance outright, so he's not in danger of losing a roster spot that way. But, his struggles (and the overall context of the situation) might press the Niners into wanting to trade him sooner rather than later, and for less in return, too.

Not a win-win situation.
