While the severity isn't quite known, Jauan Jennings appeared to suffer a hand injury on the 49ers' opening drive in Week 5 against the Cardinals.

Update: Jauan Jennings returned for the Niners on their second drive of the game after receiving some medical attention on his hand.

The San Francisco 49ers have already dealt with plenty of notable injuries through the course of 2024, and they have to be feeling a little concerned early in Week 5 when their leading wide receiver, Jauan Jennings, exited on the Niners' second play from scrimmage against the Arizona Cardinals.

Jennings, who also entered Week 4 with the fourth-most receiving yards, has 364 yards and three touchdowns on the season, serving as quarterback Brock Purdy's favorite target over the first four weeks.

On the play in question, Jennings appeared to run into an Arizona defender but broke free, only to watch his quarterback scramble for 2 yards.

The receiver required attention on the field after it seemed nothing had happened, then disappeared into the blue medical tent for further evaluation.

After emerging, Jennings remained on the sideline with his helmet on, suggesting he'll be able to come back into the game.

However, if it's a potentially serious hand injury, it'd be fair to wonder if any in-game efforts might be impacted, limiting his ability to catch passes from Purdy in a crucial NFC West showdown.

San Francisco has yet to make an official injury designation, although it's possible that'll happen soon if he doesn't take the field for its second drive, which ended in a 3-and-out.

Stay tuned for more updates.
