49ers vs. Giants: Did Trent Williams just punch a dude?
49ers left tackle Trent Williams was playing with fire at the end of the first half against the Giants, and was very lucky not to get ejected after a blatant punch.
Do the San Francisco 49ers have a problem with discipline? Penalty flags have been a recurring problem for the team this season with some very poor decision making, but this might be one of the more stupid ones.

Left tackle Trent Williams is the anchor of the offensive line and one of the team leaders, but he certainly wasn't leading by example when he punched New York Giants defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson in a blatant act toward the end of the first half of Thursday Night Football:
The punch ended up being essentially meaningless. While a flag was thrown, a flag was thrown on the Giants as well which offset the penalties. Even if it didn't, the 49ers were going to kneel to run out the first half regardless.
And of course, the simple fact the referees didn't eject Williams for that punch. A really big stroke of luck for San Francisco, given they probably should have.
The 49ers entered the second half with a 17-6 lead and a strong opportunity to get a 3-0 start to the season. It's up to the Niners to get there, and it's up to players like Williams to make sure they don't do anything stupid.
Just take it slow, cool down, don't commit any dumb penalties and get the win so the 49ers can have an extended break and a 3-0 record to start the season. No ejections please.
