Why 49ers defense will dominate Rams (again) in Week 2

Don't be shocked if the Niners defense absolutely embarrasses Matthew Stafford and the Rams on Sunday.

Secondary

The Niners' defensive secondary was very busy in Week 1 because the Steelers were throwing a lot, thanks partly to them playing catchup most of the game.

Pickett threw for 232 yards, but the fact that had 46 attempts really puts things in perspective. His numbers were inflated.

The secondary of the 49ers did have two interceptions thanks to Charvarius Ward and Talanoa Hufanga, though, but the more impressive stat is that no receiver on the Steelers had more than 70 yards receiving.

The Rams receivers had a field day in Week 1, however, with both Tutu Atwell and rookie Puka Nacua picking up 119 receiving yards each. The long and the short, don't expect that type of production from them in Week 2.

Prediction: The secondary of the 49ers will hold Stafford to under 230 yards passing. No receivers will top 80 yards receiving. Finally, there will be two interceptions from the secondary, and the 49ers will continue their yearly tradition of a pick-six against the Rams.
