49ers Player No. 3: DB D'Shawn Jamison

Undrafted rookie defensive back D'Shawn Jamison had been playing quite well in training camp, and the general fluidity of the 49ers cornerback room seemed to indicate that he had a real shot to make the Niners' 53-man roster.

But a poor performance against the Broncos in Week 2 of the preseason, followed by the re-affirmation of Isaiah Oliver's security (h/t 49ers Webzone) on the roster, could have dimmed the shine on the UFDA cornerback.

Jamison, though, played great football against the Chargers, both in coverage and when tackling. His punt returning was not spectacular, but it was solid enough, and given the continued struggles of Oliver in comparison, Jamison put his best foot forward for a roster spot.

And given the 49ers' cornerback room, there seems to be a spot ready-made for him as the fifth or sixth cornerback on the roster.
