With no "real" pass rush and defensive backs who can't touch receivers, OTAs are tailor made for quarterbacks to deliver gaudy stats with plenty of success.

Since the 49ers will be without Brock Purdy until training camp, at the very soonest, Trey Lance and Sam Darnold are left to battle it out for the QB1 role heading into camp, and that's something that will pan out during OTAs.

Lance reportedly underwent changes to his mechanics recently, so those are going to be scrutinized heavily.

Especially if he's perceived to struggle and falls behind the competition with Darnold in what should be QB-favorable practices.
