When tight end George Kittle reeled in his 18-yard reception in the second quarter against the Washington Commanders, he hit a regular season milestone for the 2023 season. He also helped the San Francisco 49ers reach a rare franchise milestone.

For Kittle, that reception put him over 1,000 yards receiving for the 2023 season. That would get him to his third 1,000-plus-yard season in his seven-year career.

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk also came into the game with over 1,000 yards receiving in the 2023 season,1,203 yards thus far to be exact.

So with that 18-yard reception for Kittle, that gave the 49ers a 1,000-yard receiving duo for the first time since 1998.

That duo included Hall of Fame wide receivers Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens. Rice picked up 1,157 receiving yards that season, and Owens had 1,097 receiving yards.

The 49ers also have another team milestone that they could pick up before the season ends. If wide receiver Deebo Samuel picks up another 166 receiving yards between Week 17 and Week 18, the team could have three wide receivers over 1,000 yards receiving and a running back over 1,000 yards rushing.

They could be the third team in NFL history to reach that milestone. That said, while the ultimate regular season goal would be to clinch the number-one seed in the NFC, making history in another way wouldn't hurt either.
